Nobody wants to feel out of control.

Nobody wants to feel like the problem.

The meltdown is the nervous system doing its job.

Once you understand that, things can change.

Online Beta workshop, November 22, 2026

11:00 AM - 12:30 PM CT, Via Zoom

You stop in the grocery store on the way home from school pickup.

Your kids are tired and probably hungry, but you promise it’ll only take a few minutes.

You’ve picked up the items you need as your youngest starts to whine about needing a snack. He grabs the sugary cereal he’s “always wanted to try”. You put it back and head towards the register to pay. You’re almost there, he starts yelling, grabs the cereal again, and throws the box of cereal on the floor.

Your face reddens. Your neck is tight.

You return the cereal and take his hand, speaking in a whisper that you have cereal at home and you’ll be there in 5 minutes. He stomps his foot, pulls his hand back, and shouts, “No! Now!”

You feel your face heat up as other shoppers notice the commotion.

You quickly grab his hand, dragging him towards the register, feeling embarrassed and upset.

Some of the hardest moments we face as parents are the ones that make us feel like we're failing.

You aren't failing as a parent.

Your child is not to blame.

You may both be reaching nervous system capacity and not know what to do about it.

Beyond the Meltdown is a body-led workshop that will help you understand what is happening in your body and your child’s body in these hard moments. This somatic approach allows you and your child to meet your bodies’ signs of approaching nervous system capacity with understanding and compassion.

A Note From Me

My name is Carol Holguin. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist (TX 132669), Certified Trauma Touch Therapist™, and Somatic Coach with 35 years of working with bodies, the last twelve focusing mainly on how to work with trauma and stress through the body.

I created this workshop to offer a body-forward perspective that relieves the blame and shame and supports all the bodies in the room.

When I have shared this work with other mothers, the first thing they tell me is, “I wish I’d known this growing up.”

My hope is that your kids won’t have to say this in the future.

What This Is

This is not therapy.

It is not family counseling.

Beyond the Meltdown is somatic education, body-led activities, and nervous system regulation techniques.

We’ll walk through what’s happening in the body.

Learn how to recognize signs of approaching nervous system capacity.

Practice activities that help you and your child reset.

And create a simple plan that you can use with your family at home.

Included with this workshop is a follow-up session where we can talk about what worked and what might need adjusting.

How This Works

This first Beyond the Meltdown workshop will be held via Zoom on Sunday, November 22, 2026,
